31. Fallen! Fallen is Babylon!

Like people, cities have distinctive personalities. Paris is said to be a city of romance; Kansas City is not. Washington is a center of political power. Cities have their distinctive sins, too. Hollywood is associated with pride and vanity; Las Vegas with gambling and greed. Rome was the Sin City of the first century. Tacitus, a Roman Senator and historian, said the city was "a collecting place for everything evil." Rome is here called "Babylon the Great", and God's judgment of that great enemy of the church is sweeping, comprehensive, and precise.
