Here is Simon the Pharisee-religious, upright, well-to-do, influential in the community: just the kind of person that could help Jesus with His work. The other person is a woman - not just any woman a "sinner" - an immoral woman of ill repute, probably a prostitute. Jesus is going to be put in a position of choosing between the two...which will He choose?
