Exposition on The Book of Hebrews - Part 30

This was the Sunday morning message from Princess Chapel Church in Ashland, KY by the Pastor, Douglas Salyer. This sermon is from the series on the Exposition from the Book of Hebrews.

This message was Part-30, covering Hebrews 11:1-2. This message deals with the matter of faith. What is real saving faith, that which God is please with?

Hebrews 11:1-3
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.

There is nothing in our Christian lives that does not involve faith.

We are saved by faith, we are justified by faith. We live by faith, we walk by faith. We work “that is serve” by faith and we pray by faith.
What we believe about God rest in our faith.

“A person can only believe what they know, If you know very little of God, then I say you believe very little. Weak theology, equals weak faith”.

The substance, or the assurance of things hoped for – as the NASB translates. the evidence (or the conviction) of things not seen.

I can’t see it, I can’t hear it, or touch it. I cannot even feel it!

In other words, the faith described here involves the most solid possible conviction, of the God-given present assurance of a future reality.

Faith is the assurance of the future things not yet seen. Faith in God, that is the faith that justifies, is the trust and assurance in the promises of God from His Word in the things not seen. Faith, this assurance is not based off of empirical evidence.
