The God of New Beginnings | John Mark

John Mark: "Get Mark … bring him … he is useful to me for ministry" 2 Timothy 4:11.

John Mark was brought to Christ through Peter, was the son of Mary, living in Jerusalem, where the church also met and prayed and His uncle was Barnabas. They all played a role in his spiritual development. We will read of Mark's desertion, in Acts 13:13, which could have been the end of his usefulness as far as the early church was concerned. But God is the God of new beginnings and this is demonstrated in Mark's case, as we will see. We will find him mentioned positively in various Epistles by Paul, as he seeks to advance the work of the kingdom - he has even given us a Gospel! Then in 2 Timothy 4:13 the great apostle calls him again to his side – Mark is "useful for ministry."
