Series The God of New Beginnings
Mary Magdaline: "From whom seven demons had gone out." Luke 8:2-3; 23:55; John 20:1-10
Luke writes about Mary Magdaline "out of whom had come seven demons." She is named with Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, among those who provided for Him of their substance. She was a witness to Jesus' crucifixion and His burial. John highlights that she was first to arrive at the empty tomb and was sent with the message from the risen Christ to His disciples, (Matthew 28:9; John 20:14-18). There are fables written of her which need to be dismissed; rather, we ought to focus on her being freed to begin a new life, following the Lord, standing faithfully by Him when disciples forsake Him, and being first at the empty tomb.
