The God of New Beginnings | Simon Peter

Peter: "Do You Love Me?" John 1:35-51; 21:1-25

The first example in the New Testament for the God of new beginnings, is the restoration of Peter. Peter was impetuous, speaking before he thinks, having a rash self-confidence, failing to watch and pray in the garden. He did not heed the Lord's warnings to him personally, (Luke 22:31-34), nor confess Jesus, but hid his light at the charcoal fire. He had not fully grasped the purpose of God in the death of Jesus. Yet the Lord reached out to him on resurrection day and by the sea of Tiberius as he confessed his weakness he was called to follow Jesus again.
