Names, Names, Names! Why so many names?!

What was the purpose of God including all these genealogies in Scripture? We see God's sovereignty in choosing a nation (Israel) and in choosing individuals. He knows each and every particular person down to the details of their lives. Every name is important to God. And just in the first ten names, we see the beautiful Gospel on display in their meanings! "Man appointed subject to death from the presence of God one comes down, dedicated, dying He shall send to the poor brought very low comfort and rest."
