Disciplined But Not Disowned

Sin has consequences. God offers complete and full forgiveness of sin for those who will turn from their sin and by faith, identifity with Jesus Christ as the One who paid the penalty of death earned as a sinner before the Holy God. When the child of God sins there will be disicpline if there is no confession of that sin and genuine repentance. The seriousness of sin and its consequences will serve to turn the child of God from that course of sin. Those consequences are only controlled by God who knows the extent and what is necessary for correction as He also intervenes with that disicpline in the ripple effects on other believers and the testimony to the unsaved world observing. Even as the psalmist, David, was facing the consequences of his sins he also knew he was still, and would always remain God's child, so to God he cries out with confidence in God's promises and unchanging character.
