Why Fight Christ?
Series The Gospel of Luke
If you ever played organized sports, or have been involved in tournament play, you know how humiliating it is to face a vastly superior opponent. It is hard for us to admit it, but some matches should never have been arranged. That's the feeling you get as you read this passage of Scripture. We see the cuning craftiness of Jesus' enemies hoping to trap Him with their question—a question that really had no "politically correct" answer, yet was asked of Him publicly. But Jesus is the Divine Prophet and will not be tripped up by any cheap shot. Jesus' reply silenced His enemies according to His glorious wisdom. And Jesus continues victorious over all things, though some of His creature continue in their rebellion. Why fight Christ (Psalm 2:1-2)?
