THE EIGHTH COMMANDMENT
Intro.
Money is an article which may be used as a universal passport to
everywhere, except heaven; and as an universal provider of everything,
except happiness!
A. Its ‘love' is the root of all evil (1 Tim. 6:10)
B. Its ‘value' is absolutely zero (Ps. 49:6-8)
C. Its ‘final possession' may incriminate (James 5:1-6)
I. What will condemn the rich?
A. James is a NT prophet like Amos
B. He calls the ‘rich to howl and weep' (vs. 1)
C. What will God condemn in the rich?
II. What does God expect from the rich?
A. To love our neighbor as ourselves: Matt. 7:12 & see Cat. 111
B. To work faithfully
PARTING THOUGHTS
A. God doesn't expect us to solve the ‘world's problems' but to minister to our neighbor's problems
B. Let's daily seek God's redeeming grace!
