God promised Abraham land (Palestine), seed (the Jews) and a blessing (initially physical prosperity). Here in Romans 4 the seed promised is interpreted to be anyone who has the faith of Abraham (no matter if Jew or Gentile). The things of the Old Testament are just deposits or tokens of the ultimate realities that come with Jesus in the New Testament.
