Spiritual Depression Part 8

Spiritual Depression Part 8

FEAR OF THE FUTURE

2 Tim 1:1-7; 2 Timothy 1:8–12; Ephesians 6:10–13

Thinking is right up to a point, but if you let it become worry and anxiety it will paralyze and cripple you.

Matthew 6:34- Do Not Worry

Back to the main verse, 2 Timothy 1:7

Paul is counseling his spiritual son here. The Apostle Paul has to tell Timothy to stir up the gift of God. We need to do the same

Our fears are a failure to think Biblically

2 Tim 1:6–7: The verse is encouraging Timothy and us to get our focus off of ourselves and unto God.

Remember Peter who denied the Lord but what happens when the Holy Spirit empowers him?

Next we see love. 2 Tim 1:7

Why do you think we see love here? Thoughts? Is it love that the timid fearful person needs?

Finally we see Disciple or Sound Mind

FEELINGS

How do feelings relate to depression? Where do they come from and what should they be?

One of the greatest problems is how we handle our feelings

Joy is meant to be an essential part of the Christian life

If you're feeling depressed first make sure there is not a reason for it. Are you walking in sin? Is something hurting your relationship with your Father?

Do you need to obey 1 John 1:9?

"Taste and see that the Lord is good" Psalm 34:8

Our rejoicing is not the rejoicing of the world. How is it not?

Psalm 42:5; Matt 5:6- Do you strive for what pleases our Father?
