Rebekah was God's choice for Isaac. Likewise, the church is God's choice for Christ, the Son of God. Thus, Rebekah is a type of the church in this chapter. She wasn't the cause of her choice or call but neither did she resist it. That's the way of the effectual call of grace. God awakens and calls His people in secrecy and sovereignty.
