Second Vision Interpreted
Series Daniel
Daniel receives the interpretation of his second vision from Gabriel, as God answers Daniel's request for understanding. Empires would prevail; first Medo-Persia, then Greece. Finally, after many years and many Greek kings, a small horn (king) would arise out of Syria's rulers by the name of Antiochus Epiphanes (175-164 BC). He would begin insignificantly, but would eventually control Israel, in a covenant of apostasy (they abandon Yahweh and the Law), and commit abomination with the sacrifice of pig in the temple, in worship of Zeus. Gabriel gives Daniel many specific details about the character of Antiochus Epiphanes, and the deeds that he would perform. He clearly foreshadows the Antichrist to come. Daniel is once again physically impacted and spiritually astounded
