Be Ready for the Return of the King (Part 2)
Series Discipleship from the Master
Theme: All people are responsible for the light and gifts they have been entrusted with and will be examined accordingly when the King returns. In v. 41, Peter asks a question, and in vv. 42-48, Jesus answers with a parable. He contrasts the wise servant, who is blessed because of his faithfulness until the Master returns, with the foolish servants who are rejected. We learn from this that we need to strive to manage God's gifts well. In vv. 45-48, Jesus teaches about the rejected servants: the scoffing, the procrastinating, and the uninformed. We learn from this parable that we need to examine our hearts and lives to see if we are truly in the faith. When Jesus returns, we will be judged on what we have done with what we have been given. Will you be like the rewarded or rejected servants? Let us examine ourselves and be ready for our King's return!
