Raising children - God's way

Raising children is a difficult work because:
(i) our children are born with a sinful nature and as strangers to God. Psalm 51:5, Psalm 58:3 & Job 5:7 I can not and will not say that children will commit every possible sin – but they are capable of committing every possible sin.
(ii) we live in a society which is increasingly anti-god and anti-gospel. It doesn’t take a genius to detect the wicked spirit of these days.
(iii) the devil is ever seeking to devour and destroy our children. Satan is no friend to young people. He never has been. He is the great destroyer of souls! He has a special interest in children. The devil is the great attacker of boys and girls.

These things only serve to highlight the mammoth task that lies before us. It is not an easy business! But for all of the difficulties we cannot afford to be careless or complacent or carnal in this matter. Brings me to the theme “raising our children – God’s way.” There are three elements to this: we consider the first in this message:
