Man of Sorrows, Bearing Sin
Series The Gospel of Mark
Christ is described in Isaiah 53 as a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. We see His grief pouring out in the Garden of Gethsemane. The passage makes no sense if we do not fully embrace the full humanity of Christ. Christ was overwhelmed by the awful prospect of what He was about to experience. In this sermon, we consider His extreme agony, we consider the utter distaste He had for sin and being made sin and we draw great encouragement from the fact that He was a suffering Savior and knows how to sympathize with us in our sufferings.
