Leaving and Cleaving

When a man and woman unite in marriage, they are to sever the emotional ties with their families and to begin a new relationship. There is a close and intimate relationship that is stronger than the parental relationship. This unity is a picture of the union and unity that Christ has with His Bride, the Church.
