The charge against some in the church in Ephesus was so severe that they were handed over to Satan. The shipwrecked condition of their faith required that they be excluded from the umbrella of God's protecting grace and handed over to the wiles of the devil. Because they neglected the faith and purity, they blasphemed God and needed to be jolted to repentance.
