The world loves its own. But you, Christian, are not the world's own any longer. You are Christ's and this is why the world hates you just as it hated Christ before you. It is vital we understand this fact: because the world hates Christ it also hates His people. We need to know this to be kept from stumbling when persecution does come into our lives.
