God in His sovereignty unfolds His plans even when we are absorbed with lesser things. We know so little. Frequently, the presenting issue is not the real issue at all. God works all things together for our eternal good, yet we refuse to believe it or cannot see it until after He is done. The census brings Joseph and Mary to the place where Jesus was to be born. Saul's search for his father's lost donkeys brings him face to face with the famous prophet that he didn't even know. Saul was to be anointed Israel's king. Saul was oblivious to it. God is sovereign over even the smallest details of life through which He fulfills his covenant promises and purposes. His gracious sovereignty makes a stone pillow soft. Someone somewhere once sang, "God is too wise to be mistaken, God is too good to be unkind, So when you don't understand, When don't see His plan, When you can't trace His hand, Trust His heart."
