Walk by the Spirit

In Galatians 5:13-26, Paul repeats his reminder that Christ has set believers free, but he qualifies that by explaining the purpose of our freedom; it is not to be used for self-indulgence, but to serve others, because loving one another fulfills the Law. Believers experience a kind of internal warfare as their flesh fights against the Spirit, and those led by the Spirit are not under Law and do not carry out the desires of the flesh. After cataloging the deeds of the flesh, Paul lists the familiar fruit of the Spirit, the result of the Holy Spirit's work in our lives, which is something that the Law could never achieve.
