Redemption and Renewal

God the Son assumed humanity to redeem a people for Himself. His redemption was not a salvaging of the original creation corrupted by sin but a renewal of re-creation. The first Adam is the representative of the human race born in sin. Jesus, the last Adam, is the representative of a new race of people, regenerated and belonging to the new creation which will find its fulfillment in the new heavens and the new earth. This is the Gospel of redemption Christ commissioned the church to proclaim.
