Communion With Jesus or Demons

The sermon "Communion with Jesus or Demons" (1 Corinthians 10:14–22) delivers a strong call for exclusive loyalty to Christ by warning believers about the spiritual dangers of idolatry. Paul urges the Corinthians to flee idolatry, reminding them that participating in the Lord's Supper signifies deep union with Christ. Sharing in idol feasts, even casually, creates spiritual fellowship with demons—an act of betrayal against the Lord. The sermon highlights that believers cannot sit at both the table of the Lord and the table of demons. To do so provokes God's righteous jealousy, risks spiritual compromise, and reveals divided allegiance. Christians are called to guard their communion with Christ by remaining loyal in thought, behavior, and worship, resisting cultural pressures to dilute their faith. Therefore, believers are to be jealous for Christ, for His table, and for their salvation so that the table of demons never tempts them. And just as Paul did for us, we should "pull back the veil" on everything we think, say, or do, to see if Christ is behind them or demons.
