Passing On the Message of Reconciliation

Two issues are being elaborated by the apostle Paul in this section. One being the work of God in reconciling sinful man to Himself and two being the message of this work of reconciliation that is to be passed on by believers in the message. Believing the message not only brings salvation but also the responsibility to pass it on as God’s ambassadors. As ambassadors the responsibility is to pass on the message unedited, unaltered, unchanged in any way. The faithful ambassador serves the Lord in carrying this message with passion and urgency, personally knowing the greatness of God, the power effective through the message, and the desperate need of sinners to hear the message to believe and be saved. Central to the message is that Jesus Christ as Savior has not only died bearing responsibility and accountability for mankind’s sin but also His righteousness is given in exchange being imputed to the repentant sinner who has come to genuinely believe the message.
