Limited Atonement

We come this evening in our series on the Canons to what is today THE most
controversial of the five points: the limited scope of our Lord's atonement made for lost
sinners. Calvinists and Arminians both agree that Christ's atonement is not absolutely
universal but is limited in some way. The disagreement between us comes in who it is
that is doing the limiting. Thus, the Second Head of Doctrine teaches us of:

1. The necessity of Christ's atonement (Articles 1-2).

2. Some clarifications concerning Christ's atonement (Articles 3-7).

3. The completeness of Christ's atonement (Articles 8-9).

4. The "all" verses of Scripture which speak about Christ's atonement.
