The Wrath of God
Series Series in Deuteronomy
Aim: To recognize the severity and mercy of God; and to love Him for His grace in Christ.
Exegesis: The wrath of God is kindled against our sin, because in the flesh we despise the Lord's goodness (v. 22), we reject the Lord's grace (v. 23), and we hate the Lord's law (v. 24). The wrath of God is appeased in our Lord Jesus Christ, who made atonement for us (vv. 25-26), who kept covenant for us (vv. 27-28), and who provided power for us (v. 29).
Key verse: v. 22 ''Also at Taberah and Massah and Kibroth Hattaavah you provoked the LORD to wrath.''
