Identifying Believers Part 3
Series Sermon on the Mount
Being identified with Jesus Christ and being faithful as His witness, will mean facing opposition and possible persecution. Those who reject and oppose Jesus Christ do not like the confrontation with righteousness that the believer brings by life and lifestyle, whether it is active or passive. Nonetheless, being both salt and light to a dark world is every believer's identity, responsibility, and privilege.
Faithfulness for the believer, as salt and light, means being preoccupied with living a godly life and giving out the truth of the Gospel message. The opposition and trouble that will come require determination and an ongoing deliberate effort because it will never be easy or come "natural" for our flesh. God promises to provide the means to bear up under the pressure and stand uncompromising in the face of the opposition that is sure to come.
Such faithfulness identifies believers and glorifies the Lord who graciously encourages with His blessings making it more than worth the effort and sacrifice.
