The Expectation of God's Grace

The eager expectancy of the second coming of Christ is set forth by Paul (2:13) as a primary motivation to press on in holy living (2:12) in the midst of "the present age" (elsewhere called "a crooked and perverse generation" and profiled in detail in II Timothy 3:1-15). The confident anticipation of Christ's return strengthens the soul to sustain the fight of faith in this adversarial, hostile, fallen age. May we possess and cultivate this upward & forward looking expectation.
