Character Qualities For Deacons

The characteristics of those who would serve as deacons having been appointed by those who are elders must demonstrate the same spiritual and lifestyle qualities of a godly man as those who are elders. Those men so qualified may then serve as deacons in areas of service to the local body of Christ. Different than the elders, they are not required, and therefore responsible, for the teaching of the Word of God and upholding the doctrine taught therein. There leadership in assigned areas of ministry enable the effective and efficient work of the ministry to be carried on continually as consistent with the Word of God.
