Guarding From Counterfeits

Paul had an eye problem which may have kept him from writing by hand his own letters. Since the letter was not in his own hand, he wrote the greeting in his own writing to authenticate that it was a letter from him, and to protect the church from counerfeit writings in his name. Thus he strove to guard the truth.
