Beware of false prophets Black is Back Montanists return as Pentecostal & Charismatic

Gavin says this Saturday in Whitsun Week "quadruple of sermons … have a unifying theme drawn from II Peter 2:1 which refers to 'false teachers … who… bring in damnable heresies' (II Peter 2:1). This is the first of four sermons today, the other three are a response to the recent death of Billy Graham of the USA in February 2018, and some of the issues raised in this first sermon are of relevance to those other sermons. Now the first sermon today is on a dark topic, for black is back as the heretical Montanists have returned as Pentecostals and Charismatics. … Now in terms of broad overview of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ's words, in Matthew 7:15, 'Beware of false prophets,' there are many examples of this we won't be looking into in this sermon … Now in broad terms this sermon divides into four parts. Firstly, we shall consider the Biblical gifts of prophecy and tongues; secondly, we shall consider Biblically sound examples of applying the principles of the teaching of I Corinthians 14 made during Reformation times in the 15th and 16th centuries [sic. 1500s and 1600s] in some special elucidation on the King James Bible of 1611 and the Anglican 39 Articles of 1562 & 1570; thirdly, we shall consider the rise of Montanism in ancient times; and fourthly, we shall then consider the return of Montanism in historically modern times with the Pentecostals and Charismatics."
