Ruling elders

Biblical church government is a subject of great spiritual importance. (1) There are to be rulers in the church who are called elders or presbyters. (2) Rule in the church is of a distinctive character. (3) Respect for the eldership is a Christian duty. The qualifications given in the Bible are to ensure that the right men are put into office.
