The Discipline of a Faithful Servant
Series 1 Timothy
The faithful servant of God in whatever capacity the serving is being done, needs to continue to discipline themselves to be maturing, equipped, and ready for service. For those in leadership they must be ready and able to expose false teaching and give warning to those whom they are leading. The reminder is given that the work of the ministry is strenuous and dependent upon the Lord being served by those serving. The motive to continue working hard is the future hope of Christ's return and the fulfillment of promises given. Such hope and those promises are not mere positive and wishful thinking but based upon the Word of God. Caution is likewise sounded to stay clear of the influence of the experiences, stories, fanciful ideas and cultural notions of the day. These continue to be in flux and unreliable in terms of being spiritually beneficial to the believer.
