Magnificent Promises

God is the one who takes the initiative in calling us to himself. He does this by and because of his glory and goodness; these are his attributes, not ours. And it is through God's achievement and excellence that he gives us magnificent promises such as the indwelling Holy Spirit, a new community, participation in the divine nature, etc. We are not lacking in anything we need for our Christian lives; it is a matter of walking in what God has already given us. Outside of Christ, nothing will help us.
