Look and Live: The Fiery Serpent
Series Into the Wilderness
There are 50 references to a serpent in scripture. Many of them are simply references to snakes, a good number refer to Satan, and twice the serpent is a redemptive symbol, once from physical death and once from eternal death. The story, recorded in Numbers 21:4-8 is one of the unusual references to the snake as a symbol of salvation.
This sermon looks to unpack the meaning of this passage, and how Jesus uses it in his conversation with Nicodemus in John 3:14-15.
