I Joy in Tribulation

Happiness was our original condition. At creation, we learn that the angels shouted for joy (“all the sons of God shouted for joy” Job 38:7). Joy and Happiness did not elude Adam and Eve. There was nothing to blemish or taint their happiness until sin. On account of sin, death, violence, sorrow, fear, dread, etc., unhappiness now plagues the universe.
Joy eludes us; happiness too often evaporates — the times of joy remain too short and those who dare take the time to reflect, feel there has to be more.

I. We can always rejoice because of our rich spiritual privileges (vv. 1-2).
II. We can always rejoice in tribulation because of what it will produce (v. 3).
III. We can always rejoice in God through Jesus Christ for our salvation (v. 11).
