The cities of Refuge show us Christ

After the major campaigns have finished, Joshua obeys the Word of the Lord given to Moses and sets out cities of refuge within Canaan. These are to serve as a place of security for the guilty.
These strategically placed cities serve as a portrait of the redemptive work of Christ as our Refuge from the avenger of death.
