“Teach Me, Unite Me, Show Me”

"Teach Me, Unite Me, Show Me"

A Psalm-Driven Prayer for a Focused and Fruitful Life

Introduction

It's always good to gather with family in the Lord, amen? Today, we turn our attention to three powerful prayers in the Psalms that guide our walk with Jesus. They come from different voices — David, Moses, and the sons of Korah — but they point to one faithful God who desires to teach us, unite our hearts, and reveal His work in us for the next generation.

We'll focus on Psalm 86:11, Psalm 90:12, and Psalm 90:16–17, asking the Lord to:

  1. Teach me Your way,

  2. Unite my heart to fear You,

  3. Show me Your work — and let Your splendor rest on my life and my children.

  4. TEACH ME YOUR WAY — Psalm 86:11

"Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth."

Explanation

David uses a Hebrew word that means, "show me, point it out, demonstrate it to me." Like a father showing his child how to safely use a rifle or a teacher walking a student through an unfamiliar task, David says: "I need You to show me how to live."

Many of us learned important safety lessons when first taught how to shoot. Before we were given real freedom, we had to be trained — shown the why, the how, and the what-to-do-if. Without instruction, we'd be dangerous to ourselves and others.

David's prayer is humility in action — an admission that without God's personal instruction, we will not walk rightly.

Application
• Are you teachable?
• Are you asking daily, "Lord, show me what to do, how to respond, and where to step"?
• The result of this prayer? "I will walk in Your truth." Our walk (our way of life) reflects what we've been taught. If God teaches us, our walk will reflect His
