Marked for Glory: A Life of Praise and Purpose

(Psalm 92 Devotional Teaching)

From the beginning to the end of the biblical record, one truth has remained constant: God saves—and when He does, He doesn't leave a life untouched. Every person He rescues becomes part of a testimony much bigger than themselves. God sets apart a people for His glory, a people who will bear His name, carry His presence, declare His faithfulness, and walk in His purpose (Jeremiah 13 and 1 Peter 2).

Psalm 92 is a beautiful example of this divine reality. While we won't read the entire Psalm in this moment, it's worth your full attention—because it lays out a pattern of life that belongs to the people of God. Let's unpack some of it together.

  1. It Is Good to Give Thanks (Psalm 92:1)

"It is good to give thanks to the Lord, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;"

This is a declaration of design—it's not just a good suggestion, it's right because it is good by nature. To give thanks is to walk in agreement with the truth of who God is and what He's done. Gratitude aligns our soul with heaven's reality. It's one of the clearest evidences that God has marked a heart for Himself: a song of thanks.

Whether it's the Old Testament people delivered from Egypt or a New Testament believer rescued from sin and shame, the result is the same—praise rises. God puts a new song in the mouth of His redeemed (Psalm 40:3), and it is always rooted in this: "He saved me."
