See Continual Danger and Need to Watch and Fight
Series Thomas Watson, Sixth Petition
Tonight we continue with Thomas Watson's study through the sixth petition of the Lord's Prayer and answering the concern that if God turns even our sins to our good, does this not lead Christians to carelessness? His answer is there is a difference between being foiled through weakness and willfulness and He warns in Use 1: See in what continual danger we are. 1) Satan brings a saint into sin, by making him confide in his habitual graces. 2) Satan tempts to sin by the baits and allurements of the world. 3) Satan tempts to sin ... under a mask and show of good; his temptations seem gracious motions (tempting us 1. to duties of religion out of sinister ends; and 2. out of a show of love to Christ) . And 4. Satan tempts to the sin to which a man's heart is naturally most inclinable. Thus, he concludes, "See hence that a Christian's life is no easy life. It is military ... A Christian must be continually watching and fighting."
