Colossians 2:16-19: Legalism? Hold Fast to Christ!

In the heart of the letter to the Colossians, Paul finally addresses the false teaching threatening the Colossians. In 2:16-19, he addresses legalism and mysticism, warning the brethren of the danger of being lured away from Christ--the Head--and the Body of Christ.

Some practical teaching is given about legalism and liberty, and about mysticism. But the key exhortation is to hold fast to Christ--the substance of the shadows. The key to spiritual growth and protection is to be rooted in the Head and knit together into His Body.
