Hope Perfectly for the Grace Coming at Christ's Appearing

Peter defines salvation as that which the prophets prophesied and the apostles preached, both by the power of the Holy Spirit. This salvation has now come into the nations and this wonderful spectacle even the angels bend themselves downward to behold. On account of this Peter commands us to hope perfectly for the grace that is to be revealed at the appearing of Jesus Christ? Just how invested are we in eternal things? Or, have we invested everything in the here and now?
