Consequences as Judgment

Natural revelation reveals sin and all people to be sinners. The foundational sin is rejection and replacement of God's special revelation [His Word] with something or someone else.
When truth is rejected and suppressed the only knowledge to be had is false information, lies.
No one can or will reject God and avoid or escape the consequences that are the present dimension of God's wrath against their sin. The present judgment begins as God turns people over to doing what they want to get what they want and allowing the consequences of their sin have their destructive impact.
