Atomistic Worship

The Corinthians saw the worship service as an opportunity to exalt themselves. Paul, on the other hand showed that when the principle of love was applied to the congregation meeting together, then the focus became benefiting and edifying others. The sermon looks at the way Paul sought to bring the Corinthians into line with this principle of love. It also looks at the significant difference between Paul's emphasis in 1 Corinthians and his emphasis in 2 Timothy with respect to what is the basis for the church's authority and preservation. There is a definite switch from the importance of the prophetic utterance to the centrality of preserving the already given revelation and bringing all things into submission to this already received revelation.
