Saved by Grace
Series Ephesians
This is a familiar text with unnoticed wonders. GRACE, THE MAIN POINT: Paul is fixed on the idea of grace and emphasizes it above everything else in Ephesians 2:1-10. FAITH, THE APPROPRIATING RESPONSE: "Faith" could refer to "faithfulness" (Christ's), but more likely is your faith response to the gospel, produced by God's grace. SALVATION AS GOD'S GIFT, NOT FROM YOU OR YOUR WORKS: The source of our salvation is God and His gift, not ourselves. This ensures the conclusion of our salvation, which is that we might praise God, not ourselves. ABOUT GOOD WORKS: Salvation is not from our good works, but for our good works. It is not true that "salvation has absolutely nothing to do with good works." It has everything to do with good works as the fruit of God's grace in us.
