The LORD Has Made Known His Victory

Psalm 98 is a Psalm extolling the victory of God as he has demonstrated his righteousness and holiness. God may use people to accomplish his purposes but ultimately he alone is the one who brings about the good purposes of his will. The Exodus from Egypt is the crucial event that is referred to in the OT as demonstrating God's victorious salvation and righteous vindication. In this Psalm we can discern references to the Messiah's subsequent ministry. By means of the cross Christ Jesus defeated sin and death and Satan and rose victorious from the dead. The news about this Savior sets our hearts to joyful proclamation of what God has done in the Christ-event.
