The people of Israel were not abiding in God! They ignored God and His Word. They were wicked, spiritually adulterers, physically idolaters. God in love chastised them as He had said He would in the Mosaic Covenant. God chastened to bring His own back to Himself. Hosea demonstrates God's goodness in chastening His people for their good and His glory.
