In the process of sanctification the Spirit helps us to mortify the flesh, because it's the only way to become totally consecrated to God. We have to lose sight of the lust of the flesh, the pride of life and the lust of the eyes. We have to realize though that this old man is still with us all the time but we must constantly be putting him to death.
