Good Friday 2026

This Good Friday sermon reflects on the historical reality and deep spiritual meaning of Jesus' crucifixion, reminding believers not only that Jesus died, but why His death matters for humanity. Jesus' life of perfect obedience, compassion, and miraculous ministry, shows how He fulfilled prophecy and revealed God's holiness and love. Despite betrayal, false accusations, brutal suffering, and abandonment, Jesus willingly endured the cross because of humanity's sin and God's mercy, becoming the atoning sacrifice for all who believe. From the cross, His words—expressing anguish, trust in the Father, and the final declaration "It is finished"—reveal that the debt of sin has been fully paid and reconciliation with God is now possible. We are ultimately called to respond personally by bringing our sin, shame, burdens, and brokenness to Jesus, trusting in His finished work, receiving forgiveness and grace, and remembering His sacrifice.
